Bad blogger.

So I see that I am turning into not the greatest blogger.  It's not that we are super busy, I mean we are but I really have no other excuses other than I am a lazy and pregnant!  Jonah and I have been spending most of our days outside.  He is boycotting walks, which is annoying because it's the only way that I can get excerise these days!  He just doesn't want to sit in his stroller.  We walk together, but that takes FOREVER and we don't really go far.  So when we aren't walking we are playing at park usually.  Jonah LOVES the park/playground.  We camp there a few hours a day.  

I am having a lot of fun with Jonah these days.  We are starting to get over major tantrums and he is most of the time really really fun to be around.  He talks ALL day long.  His vocabulary is amazing.  I get comments daily on how much he talks for his age.  Most people think he is at least three because of his speech.  He is still not the best eater.  He will chow down on a PB&J, but other than that he is pretty picky.  He still doesn't like vegetables at all really.  I can get him to eat edamame and carrots but that's about it!  Give the kid some chips and salsa and he's in heaven.  He also has a HUGE sweet tooth.  You can bribe him to do anything with some chocolate chips.

My biggest challenge with Jonah is bed time.  Nap or no nap he doesn't go to sleep until 9:30p.m.!!  That's right, 9:30!  He is a Welte night owl for sure!  I can get him in bed at 9:30 but usually about 2a.m. he's opening my door and crawling in bed with me!  Every night I have a visitor and it's proving VERY hard to break this habit.  We are going to be moving him into a twin bed soon not just a toddler bed as I need the mattress for the baby, so once he has his new bed it is Jonah bootcamp I guess.  The habit needs to be broken before I have a crying newborn in my room too!!

So we got his twin bed yesterday.  He hasn't made it through the night yet in it, but here's to hoping!

Jonah and I have been spending more time at the beach these days!  He really loves it.

High tide made for some great little pools in the sand.  Jonah jumped and played in these for a good two hours the other day.

We like to go to dog beach so the whole family can enjoy!

Spending 90% of our life outside means sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen!  Sometimes Jonah like to put it on himself.  A quiet Jonah is never a good sign.  He was in his room "re-applying" the other day all by himself.

My college girlfriend Vanessa and her husband came for a short visit with their sweet baby Kayla!  Jonah LOVED her!  Mainly because she was too young to play with any of his toys I think.

Jonah what do you want for lunch?  "Sandwichhhhh".  Jonah is going to make me go broke on Jersey Mike's subs.  But for a kid that doesn't seem to eat anything, I will take him everyday for his sandwich!

Jonah is SO social.  I was worried about him a little when he was younger, especially since he doesn't go to day care or anything so he is around adults a lot more than kids, but no issues here.  Jonah loves everyone!  Well everyone his age or older and young babies.  He still has issues with younger kids and sharing!  But here he is playing with his friend Oliver.

Haircut.

Jonah finally got a hair cut!!  A trim I should say.  I love his surfer dude hair so we didn't take too much off, but you can finally see his handsome face!

Pure Bliss....

It was an amazing day in Cardiff by the Sea, California.

One for the memory book.

We took a morning stroll along Highway 101.

We even saw a Fire Truck along the way.

After we packed our beach bag, stopped for sandwiches and dug a hole....we were ready for a day in the sun with friends.

We checked out the swell with Dad.

Dug holes and filled them with water.

And after we had run for hours in and out of the surf, we curled up on Mom's lap, drank some milk, had a pb & j and had a beach side snooze.

Truely the perfect day.

I may be bias...

But I have the cutest, most precious boy in the whole world. 

growing family.

Most of you probably already know this, but we are expecting our second child this October!  Today we found out if we are having a boy or girl.

I will let Jonah do the honors...........

Sorry we have been a bit MIA with the blog posts lately.  I upload from my iPhone usually and need Brody's computer as I don't have a MAC.  Anyway, he has been out of town so no computer no post.

We haven't really been up to much lately, just trying to keep Jonah entertained.  He is so busy, I find myself struggling to keep up.  His vocabulary has grown so much.  He talks all day.  Here are his favorites...

"Mom, what are you doing?"
"Mom, stop it!!"
"Mom, look!!"
"Mom, where are you?

He gets frustrated really quickly too.  If he can't do something himself or something doesn't go his way, he  has a meltdown.  I am not sure if he is just on a major quest for independence or just struggling through being a toddler - it's a hard life you know!

His favorite activities involve anything that has to do with being outside.  He loves going to the beach and the playground.  I dread rainy days cause I can see the boredom on his face.

He is starting to regress at bedtime unfortunately and it takes every ounce of energy I have left to get him to go to bed!  It seems he gets his second wind around 7pm and is ready to run a marathon, not wind down for bed time.  Tantrums ensue as soon as I say "time for bed".  You'd think that would mean he would sleep for a long time seeing as he isn't getting to bed now until about 8:30 or so....but no, come 5:30a.m. he is up and ready to find new ways to torment me ;).  I really shouldn't say me, his real victims are the dogs.  Poor Charlie and Dakine get picked on all day by Jonah.  He's either pulling their tails, trying to ride them like a horse or stealing their toys.  I guess he is getting back at them for chewing up some of his baby toys in the past.

Daddy's home!  Jonah missed Brody a lot when he was gone.  He leaves again tomorrow for another trip, so I will have to deal with "Where's Daddy" for another week :(  

Easter. Park. Beach. The fun life of Jonah Welte.

I sometimes feel guilty as a mom if I don't entertain Jonah 24/7.  I admit some days I am tired!  Some days I need to clean the house and some days I want to do nothing at all.  When you have as active of a son as I have, you have very little time to relax as you are constantly coming up with more ways to keep him busy and out of trouble.

As I write this and upload pictures, I am not feeling as guilty anymore.  Jonah really does get entertained - and I do a good job.  He is constantly playing, running and exploring.  So next time I need a break and pop in a video, I vow to not feel guilty :).
