Two years ago today, Brody, Charlie and I said aloha to our first island home, Kauai. I honestly can't believe it's been two years. And I must say A LOT has happened "post-Kauai." But I don't want to reflect on what has become, today I am nostalgic for the Pacific, for a very special place I was blessed to call home.
here are some things I miss. a look back at our time in Kauai.
Hawaiian Shave Ice
Our amazing island home on Koloa Road
Tony mowing our grass
Charlie chasing the chickens
The horses behind our house
Our neighbors crazy dogs that would greet us each morning
Poipu Grill's Club Sandwich
Snorkeling at Poipu Beach
Trying to figure out what the locals were speaking (Pidegon)
Joking with the landscapers at work
Big Save Supermarket (or Big Spend as I like to refer to it)
Happy Hour at the Marriott
Sneaking in to the Hyatt Pool
Hikes after work with Charlie to Shipwreaks
Koloa Farmer's Market
Getting carsick on the way to Waimea Canyon
After dark tide pool searches
Hanalei Bay (I miss everything about this place)
Long weekend hikes
Plate lunches at Koloa Fish Market
Waterfalls
Paddleboarding from Poipu to Kukuiula Harbor
Real Sushi
The amazing Aloha Spirit of the locals
Being called "Auntie"
Monk Seals
Novella Natividad - my amazing office mate at Waikomo Stream Villas
Football at 7:00a.m.
Brick Oven Pizza's pupu pizza
Ono Char Burger
Daily Rainbows
Tradewinds
Tree tunnel
Jumping off Kipu Falls
Freshly picked Guava
Willy's Mango tree
Warm Malasadas
I really could name about a million more things, but I'll spare you. I do wish I would have appreciated it more when I was there, but I seem to always be in search of what's next in life. Something I am working on, as living in the moment is very hard for me. If Kauai taught me anything about myself it's that I need to appreciate each day God gives us. Kauai will always remain a very special place for me and I can't wait visit someday and share it with Jonah.
